Everton expected to make approach for Armando Broja transfer before end of Sunday

Everton are set to make a move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja before the end of play on Sunday, according to The Mail On Sunday.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on 7 August (page 141) that the Blues “are expected to ask for” the 20-year-old Albania international “this weekend”.

Broja played 15 minutes against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday (6 August) when he came off the bench for Chelsea in their 1-0 win.

Hurry up

Everton cannot waste any more time when it comes to signing a new striker.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is going to be out for a while and Salomon Rondon, who was suspended for the defeat to Chelsea, is an absolute waste of space.

Broja did well at Southampton last season.

The Slough-born Albanian scored nine goals in 38 total appearances for the Saints and while that doesn’t sound amazing, it is important to remember that he was a teenager for a part of that and it was his first proper season in English football.

Broja is a fast and powerful striker who should fit in well with Frank Lampard’s system so this would be a very exciting deal to wrap up.

However, with Chelsea playing Broja at Goodison Park on Saturday and Timo Werner on his way out of Stamford Bridge to return to RB Leipzig [Fabrizio Romano], it might not be so easy to strike a deal for the Albanian.

Let’s see how this develops because there are other strikers who have been linked with us in recent days and weeks.

But the fact Broja was at Goodison Park on Saturday and this report by the Daily Mail says an approach will be made before the end of Sunday suggests that there might be something going on.
