Everton ready to submit bid for Conor Coady signing after shock Wolves development on Saturday

Everton are ready to submit a bid to sign Wolves centre-back Conor Coady, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via their website on 7 August that the 29-year-old England international is keen on quitting Molineux in favour of a move to Goodison Park.

Coady was surprisingly left out of Wolves’ starting line-up on Saturday (6 August) when Bruno Lage’s side lost 2-1 away at Leeds United in the Premier League.

The ex-Liverpool defender had started all but one of Wolves’ Premier League games since their promotion in 2018 before he was left out of the side at Elland Road.

What are Wolves doing?

If Wolves want to be a in relegation battle this season, they’re going about it the right way.

Coady is a great defender and definitely shouldn’t be sitting on Lage’s bench.

He’s an England international who’ll want to make Gareth Southgate’s England squad so moving away from Wolves makes perfect sense from his point of view.

But why would Wolves want to get rid of someone who’s been so vital to their squad in the last few seasons while they’ve been in the Premier League?

Anyway, Wolves’ loss would be our gain if we can strike this deal.

With Coady, James Tarkowski and Yerry Mina, we could have one of the best defensive units in the Premier League outside of the big-six. It would still be better than Manchester United’s too, in fairness.

It remains to be seen how we’ll do this deal as we’ve seen suggestions about a loan deal for Coady.

We’d rather a permanent move was made but Financial Fair Play could stop us from doing that this season so a loan-to-buy might be the way forward.
