Everton to beat West Ham to Conor Coady signing in coming days, £12m fee plus add-ons mooted
Everton are set to beat West Ham in the race to sign Wolves and England centre-back Conor Coady, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported on Sunday (7 August) that the Blues expect to complete the addition of the 29-year-old within the coming days for an initial fee of £12million plus-add ons.
Ben Godfrey broke his leg on Saturday (6 August) as Everton lost to Chelsea while Yerry Mina has an ankle injury, meaning Frank Lampard almost has no choice but to sign a new centre-back before the transfer window closes.

The Daily Mail claims Lampard is a “big admirer” of Coady and wants to get a deal done before Everton’s next game, which sees them travel to Birmingham to play Aston Villa on Saturday (13 August).
Everton are also close to signing midfielders Amadou Onana of Lille and Paris Saint-Germain’s Idrissa Gueye.
What a signing
We’re absolutely gutted to see Godfrey suffer such a serious injury against Chelsea on Saturday.
Although he had his poor moments last season, we never want to see a player getting injured in the way that he did and we can only hope that his season is already over.
As for Mina, he’s injured again. We’re fed up with it now and it’s probably time to stop banking on him being in the side.
Coady is an excellent signing though.

He and James Tarkowski are two of the best English centre-backs outside of the Premier League’s big-six and those two alone could probably do a job for a team like Manchester United.
It’s just a matter of who’ll play with them two in Lampard’s back-three.
Mason Holgate or Michael Keane. God help us.
Maybe we need another centre-back on top of these three players who are already on their way to Goodison.
