Everton could announce signing of boyhod Liverpool fan Conor Coady on Monday as Wolves exit forced
Everton could officially announce the signing of centre-back Conor Coady from Wolves on Monday (8 August), according to The Express & Star.
The Midlands-based newspaper reported via their website on Sunday (7 August) that Coady, 29, is close to leaving Wolves to join Everton on a loan-to-buy basis.
It is understood that the boyhood Liverpool fan has “driven this move due to a desperation to play” after he was left out of the starting line-up that lost to Leeds on Saturday (6 August).

The Express & Star adds that all parties are working to finalise Coady’s move to Goodison Park and he could be unveiled by the Toffees as early as Monday.
Deal all but done
What a signing this is.
Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard deserve a lot of credit for getting it done because Coady is a top centre-back who will be a massive upgrade on a lot of the options we have at Goodison Park already.
With him and James Tarkowski making up two-thirds of Lampard’s back-three, we’re in a lot better position than we were last season with Michael Keane, Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey.
We’re wishing Godfrey all the best in his recovery from injury but he didn’t have the best of times last season for the Blues.

Keane was a liability and we hope he gets nowhere near the side with Godfrey – and potentially Yerry Mina – injured and out for a while.
Holgate might be our next-best option to play with Tarkowski and Coady. We don’t mind that, really.
Our back-three would then boast leadership, intelligence, power, height, passing ability and pace, which is basically what everyone wants from their defence.
