Everton edge closer to sign Wolves defender Conor Coady with obligation-to-buy clause in loan
Everton are closing on the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers veteran defender and captain Conor Coady, according to the Mirror.
The Toffees have been heavily linked with the 29-year-old to strengthen their defensive unit ahead of the next campaign.
As per the latest report, the deal is likely to be completed soon where the player will move to Goodison Park on an initial loan with an obligation to buy under certain circumstances.

Leader
Everton had the worst possible start to their Premier League campaign where they not only suffered a 1-0 defeat while playing at home against Chelsea on Saturday, but they also lost two defenders — Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina — due to injuries.
It is because of this reason that the Merseyside club have now fastened the process of acquiring someone like Coady who has been also attracting interest from league rivals West Ham.
The 29-year-old is not only a quality defender as he has shown over the years but is also a leader at the back, something Everton missed in the previous campaign where the defensive unit looked leader-less at times.

Coady has been a Wolves player since the summer of 2015 when he moved from Huddersfield in a deal worth £2.5 million.
Since then, he has represented his current club in more than 300 matches across all competitions where he has managed to score seven times and provided a similar number of assists as well [Transfermarkt].
