Conor Coady will be ‘exceptional’ signing for Everton – BBC pundit

Everton are very close to making their next signing of the summer in the shape of Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady.

The England international has passed his medical at Finch Farm, according to Sky Sports, and could be announced very soon to sort out the Toffees’ defensive problems.

Those issues were heightened against Chelsea on Saturday (6 August) with Ben Godfrey suffering an injury which is set to keep him on the sidelines for months.

Yerry Mina also hobbled off against the Blues but Coady’s arrival will sort those problems and BBC pundit Don Hutchison thinks it is superb business.

“Conor Coady would be an exceptional signing for West Ham or Everton,” he said via his personal Twitter account. “Brilliant in the dressing room, calm centre half. Very very reliable.”

Leader

Maybe Frank Lampard is anticipating a bit of a scrap this season and to come out on top, he needs a group of leaders who can rise above the fight and keep their head.

Coady is exactly that and he will join Seamus Coleman and Jordan Pickford in that department as players who Lampard will be expecting to lead by example when the going gets tough.

Everton

The opening day defeat was not the poor result it may seem on paper with injuries before and during the game causing problems and the quality of the opposition.

The Wolves skipper is a much-needed addition and more are set to come with Amadou Onana but even more might have to come in to solve every issue at hand right now.

Luckily, there is plenty of time left in the transfer window to make those moves and Kevin Thelwell now has an exact list of targets to go after to finally stop the scatter-gun approach of the last few windows.
