Everton have to pile on misery for Manchester United and make Guido Rodriguez bid
Everton are on the lookout for a central midfielder this summer but they aren’t the only Premier League side desperate for new recruits.
Manchester United are also casting their net far and wide to try and find the right player to turn around the ship at Old Trafford and both clubs have now targeted the same South American wonder.
According to AS, the Red Devils are now hoping to make a bid for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez who the Toffees were looking at very recently – as reported by Cesar Luis Merlo.
The 28-year-old has been a star in La Liga since his move to Betis in 2020 and he has been a fairly regular feature for Argentina too during that time, making 24 appearances for his country, scoring once against Uruguay in the 2021 Copa America tournament.
His goal record is not something to grab the headlines but his ball work from deep positions is what is most impressive and it is something that Everton and United could do with before the window closes.
Amadou Onana’s imminent arrival at Goodison Park is likely to put an end to any approach from the Toffees but they really should carry on pursuing Rodriguez and pile the misery on Erik Ten Hag.

United have endured a difficult period compared to their incredibly high standards and their opening day defeat at home to Brighton has done little to improve the mood in Manchester.
Right now, players don’t want to go to the 20-time Premier League champions because it is a toxic place to be as a player and Everton have to take advantage of that.
They might not have had their best season last time around but the form did improve towards the end and there is a project in place at Goodison Park that could be the determining factor along with Frank Lampard at the helm.
