Everton meet profit and sustainability rules before Amadou Onana transfer

Everton have satisfied the Premier League over profit and sustainability rules ahead of their transfer blitz this week, according to The Times.

The newspaper has reported on their website that the £33million mega transfer of Lille midfielder Amadou Onana is set to go through after ticking all of the boxes.

Only one hurdle remains though, with the announcement behind held up by the French club not releasing paperwork on time as expected at the start of this week.

Writing in his latest piece for the Times, Paul Joyce shared the latest behind-the-move for Onana which should go through imminently.

“Onana, who turns 21 next Tuesday, has arrived from Lille in what could become a £33million transfer, a year after he moved there for just under £6million from Hamburg,” he wrote.

“An official announcement was held up yesterday as Everton waited for paperwork from the French club.

“The feeling at Everton is that Onana represents a coup after the club satisfied the Premier League over profit and sustainability rules.”

Beautiful.

The sale of Richarlison may not have gone down well at the time, but it has helped massively.

Getting it over the line with Spurs before the financial year ended was also critical, and it has allowed the Toffees to go on this transfer blitz of their own.

Who would have thought last year that we would be completing a transfer for over £30million? Not us, that’s for sure.

Onana will arrive as one of the brightest talents in European football, and working under Lampard will no doubt catapult him to that next level at Goodison Park.

As soon as Lille send over the necessary last pieces of paperwork, this one should be announced along with Idrissa Gueye after Conor Coady.

That would make this the perfect week, with just a striker for Kevin Thelwell to target in the remaining three weeks of this current transfer window.

Bring it on.
