Everton wait on Lille paperwork to make Amadou Onana transfer official

Everton are waiting on paperwork from Lille before making the move for Amadou Onana official, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition on Tuesday [09 August, pg. 44] that the deal is all completed for £33.7million, but still can’t be announced.

It is expected to be made official very soon, with those last pieces of paperwork all that is needed to tick the boxes to formally announce the move.

Writing in his latest snippet for the newspaper, David Maddock shared the hold up despite the deal already being officially completed by the club.

“Everton have also completed the £33.7million capture of young Lille midfielder Amadou Onana but are still waiting on paperwork from the French club before they can formally announce the signing of the Belgian,” he wrote.

“While the signing of Idrissa Gueye from Paris Saint-Germain edges closer.”

Joke.

With this one all done and Onana at the club, Lille are taking their time.

That certainly shouldn’t be the case with over £30million on the table, and Farhad Moshiri will surely be pushing his team to bring this one to a close soon.

Onana was at Goodison Park to watch the 1-0 defeat against Chelsea as the Premier League season kicked off, and will be itching to get out there.

With the trip to Aston Villa now fastly approaching, Frank Lampard will want Onana and Gueye to be announced as soon as possible with Conor Coady now done too.

That will then allow all three to start at Villa Park with days of training behind them at Finch Farm.

Everton needed reinforcements desperately, and once this paperwork comes through, all of that will be made official and we can move on to the next one.

Next one? We desperately need that new striker, bring it on – hopefully, sooner rather than later.
