Idrissa Gueye negotiates payoff from Paris Saint-Germain with Everton transfer on verge

Everton are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye, according to Paul Joyce.

The Times journalist has reported that the Senegal international is currently negotiating a payoff in the French capital ahead of his return to Merseyside.

Gueye will follow Conor Coady and hopefully Amadou Onana through the door this week at Goodison Park as Frank Lampard completes his latest transfer blitz.

Writing in his latest column for The Times, Joyce shared the latest on all things transfers coming from the Blues as we enter the final weeks of the window.

“Everton’s need for a striker was highlighted in their loss to Chelsea, but a transfer window that started with the sale of Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur for £60 million and brought low initial expectations can yet prove a good one,” he wrote.

“Deals for James Tarkowski, Dwight McNeil and Rúben Vinagre have been completed, while Idrissa Gana Gueye’s return to Goodison Park for a nominal fee from Paris Saint-Germain is close as he negotiates a payoff.”

Here We Go.

Hats off to everyone at Everton.

Lampard and Kevin Thelwell have worked wonders in recent weeks, but Farhad Moshiri has to take some credit too for working out all of the financials and making this happen.

When Richarlison was sold earlier in the summer and it remained quiet, the owner asked for patience and to be judged once the window had finished.

We are still weeks away from that and if Onana and Gueye join Coady through the door this week, surely only a new striker is needed to make this window nearly perfect.

Gueye will likely be dropping his salary to return to Goodison Park given the financial power that Paris Saint-Germain have, but this payoff will likely subsidise that.

After the defeat against Chelsea over the weekend, everyone was slightly down but there will be a new-look to this Lampard side when we next turn up there against Nottingham Forest.

Bring it on.
