Alan Myers shares if Everton want to sign Lorient attacker Terem Moffi

Everton are reportedly not pursuing a move for Lorient attacker Terem Moffi as they’re eyeing a replacement for Richarlison.

According to Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers, the Toffees do not see the 23-year-old as an option in this transfer window.

The Nigeria international plies his trade in Ligue 1 and is a regular starter for the French side, but not on Everton’s radar.

When asked if the club are considering him, Myers said on Twitter, “Not heard that name.”

Risky pursuit

The 2020/21 campaign was a fruitful one for Moffi in which he bagged 14 goals and provided three assists in 32 league appearances.

However, last season, despite playing more games, he could only get eight goals and four assists and that’s a downward trajectory that would not impress Everton,

It’s also easier to play in France than in the Premier League so if he’s unable to hit double figures regularly there, no evidence suggests that he would do the same here.

It is better to avoid such players and it’s a good thing for the Toffees that they’re not considering a move for him.

They need a striker either proven in the Premier League or one who’s consistently delivering the goods at a top-five European league.

Currently, Moffi isn’t doing that and the club could revisit it in a few years if he suddenly bursts onto the scene but as of now, he’s a big gamble.
