Everton make approach to sign Che Adams, Southampton privately ready to sell
Everton have made an approach to sign Southampton striker Che Adams with a loan-to-buy deal being explored, according to The Athletic.
The news outlet reported on Wednesday (10 August) that although Southampton are publicly saying that Adams, 26, is not for sale, the Saints are privately willing to sell the Scotland international.
It is understood that Southampton do have targets they could pursue if Adams does move on while Everton are in the hunt to add to their centre-forward options due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s latest injury woes.

Good signing
Everton cannot afford to go much longer without adding to their striker options.
Calvert-Lewin’s reliability is slumping with each passing month while Salomon Rondon simply isn’t good enough to be playing for a club like Everton.
Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard have made some good, smart signings this summer and we feel that the same will go for Adams should he swap the south coast for Merseyside.

Adams, who was an unused substitute for Southampton when they lost to Tottenham at the weekend, scored eight goals and supplied three assists in all competitions for the Saints last term.
Overall, he has 20 Premier League goals to his name in 96 appearances.
While those numbers aren’t amazing, he’s never been an out-and-out starter at St Mary’s while at Everton, he’d at least be competing with Calvert-Lewin for a starting spot.
If we can strike a loan deal with an option to buy Adams, then we’ll be all for it.
We just don’t want to see Thelwell signing off on a mandatory transfer clause because that could sting us if Adams struggles to take off at Goodison.
