Dharmesh Sheth blown away by Everton signing Conor Coady, ‘what a deal’
Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has hailed Everton for the loan signing of Conor Coady from Wolves this week.
It was confirmed on Monday (8 August) that Coady, 29, has swapped the West Midlands for Merseyside by agreeing a season-long loan with the Toffees.
It has been widely reported there’s an option to buy clause in the deal that could see the England centre-back sign permanently for the Blues next year.

Despite pointing out his history with Liverpool, Sheth has shown he’s clearly impressed with Everton’s signing.
“Done deal and what a deal,” said Sheth on the new episode of Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast on 10 August (39m10s).
“He’s joined Everton. Yes, Everton on a season-long loan from Wolves.
“They have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
“This is Conor Coady, a Liverpool fan, and he started his career at Anfield.”

What a signing, indeed
We’re amazed by Wolves’ decision to allow Coady to leave.
Before he was left on the bench at Leeds on Saturday, he’d played all but one of their Premier League matches since promotion in 2017/18 and that one game he missed was due to COVID.
Coady is one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs outside of the big-six and now he’s an Evertonian.
Frank Lampard and Kevin Thelwell deserve massive credit for getting the deal done.
It’s likely that Thelwell’s relations with former club Wolves played a role in the negotiation but still, we’re thrilled to bids with the former Liverpool player’s addition at Goodison Park.

James Tarkowski and Mason Holgate could be chosen to join Coady in Everton’s back-three over the coming weeks after Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina suffered injuries in the loss to Chelsea at the weekend.
It’s a very strong back-three that combines a lot of different strengths.
We’re excited to see how this goes but it does spell trouble for Michael Keane, who’s been nothing short of disappointing in his spell as an Everton player.
