Everton not interested in signing Viktor Gyokeres from Coventry City
Everton are not in talks to sign Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres despite claims that emerged in the last 24 hours, according to FotbollDirekt.
The Toffees have entered the transfer market for a striker after Dominic Calvert-Lewin was ruled out for six weeks before the opening Premier League game of the season against Chelsea.
And after several links to strikers in Ligue 1 such as Serhou Guirassy and Ludovic Ajorque it was claimed that the 24-year-old Sweden international has emerged as a target.

But Swedish outlet FotbollDirket claim that “reliable sources” have informed them that there are no negotiations ongoing with anyone right now for the striker.
Gyokeres had a great season last year, scoring 18 goals in 47 appearances in the Championship, and has represented Sweden on seven occasions, scoring twice.
No smoke without fire
While there may not be any formal negotiations taking place right now for this deal, it’s clear that Everton do have some interest if Sky Sports have reported it.
Whether he’s a priority target, just an option or someone that has just been alerted to the club’s attention is unclear at this moment but it would be a weird deal.
Last year was the first time he’s hit double figures in his career in England and his profile isn’t one that particularly screams that he’s a Premier League level player.
But at this point Everton are quite desperate for attacking additions and if they can bring him in, with a reported fee of £12m mooted, then it seems like a relatively simple deal to do.
Once Calvert-Lewin is fit again too it would be easy enough for him to transition to a backup striker role too. Despite their claims, something is happening with Everton and Gyokeres.
