Idrissa Gueye in PSG pay-off dispute as Everton eye ‘perfect deal’ for midfielder
Everton have seen their bid to re-sign Idrissa Gueye hit the skids due to the midfielder’s dispute with Paris Saint-Germain about a potential pay-off, according to iNews.
The news outlet reported on Thursday (11 August) that the Blues have already agreed terms with 32-year-old Gueye and had hoped to sign him before they play Aston Villa this weekend.
However, there’s a stand-off between Gueye and PSG that had put paid to the chances of a deal being done in the next couple of days.

iNews adds that “Gueye is eyed as a perfect deal for the club” and the Toffees remain hopeful of being able to re-sign the Senegal international.
Annoying but not the end of the world
It feels as though Everton should still be able to re-sign Gueye from PSG this summer but it’s just a matter of when and not if.
Annoyingly, we’ll be without him for the clash with Aston Villa this weekend and that does slightly hurt our chances of being able to win.
Gueye is bound to have come on a lot at PSG due to the players he’s played with and against at the Ligue 1 champions.
However, he is going to turn 33 next month so we wouldn’t be too gutted if we were unable to sign the veteran Senegalese midfielder.
We can do better and we have done already.
Amadou Onana has joined Everton from Lille this week.

He’s a 20-year-old Belgian international who doesn’t have anywhere near the experience that Gueye does but should still be a very astute signing for the Toffees.
He’ll be a better addition for us than Gueye, who we’d be lucky to get one or two good seasons out.
For Frank Lampard, this setback isn’t great because he no doubt wants Gueye back in his squad but overall, it’s not the end of the world.
