Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has heaped praise on the signing of centre-back Conor Coady and called him “a leader.”
The 29-year-old signed for the Toffees on an initial loan deal from Wolves with an option to make it permanent.
Doucoure, while speaking to the official club website, stated that the arrival of Coady will strengthen the squad throughout the 2022-23 season.

“He is going to help us a lot this season,” he said. “All the times I have played against him, he was a good character and very consistent.
“We are very happy to have him in our team – he is a leader, like another of the new signings, James Tarkowski.”

Everton came into this season after overcoming a major relegation scare. One of the reasons why they were involved in a relegation battle was the problems at the back where they conceded way too many goals and were one of the worst-performing sides in terms of defensive performances [Transfermarkt].
It was clear that manager Frank Lampard identified the problem and made as many as three signings that are set to strengthen the backline.

Coady is one of them and his arrival will definitely give the players and the management a much-needed boost because of his leadership qualities.
The Liverpool-born defender arrived at Goodison Park having an experience of more than 150 matches in the Premier League where he scored five goals [Transfermarket].
That experience will be valuable to the side and Lampard will be hoping that Coady along with Tarkowski will be able to solve Everton’s defensive woes for a long time.
