Sky Sports pundit tips Everton sign Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea amid striker crisis
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Everton could well sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi as the club desperately search for help up front, according to Kevin Campbell.
After operating without a striker at all in the opening weekend defeat to Chelsea, Salomon Rondon was only introduced as a late substitute for the loss at Aston Villa in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off (13 August), as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury leaves them badly lacking.
Frank Lampard wants the Belgian, and the player would be willing to make the move, having worked together previously at Stamford Bridge, and Sky Sports pundit Campbell thinks the club have to trust their manager and bring in the player he needs up top, to give the 28-year-old the games he is so often denied.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “[Not playing enough] is going to be levelled against Batshuayi, but he’s a Belgium international, got signed at Chelsea, he’s been out on loan. He’s had everything but really a chance at Chelsea.
“He’s gone out on loan. He’s done okay at times. The guy needs a break.
“Can he play in the Premier League? Of course he can, he’s proven he can play.
“And would you trust him more than a youngster? I would, he’s a Belgium international. Especially with the World Cup coming up, he’s got something to prove.
“Frank Lampard’s worked with him. You’ve got to trust the manager if he wants to bring him in.
“It’s just a matter of if the deal’s right. If you can get the right deal then fine.
“I think that could be a goer.”

When given a run in the team Batshuayi has scored goals, as shown by his tally of 14 as a regular starter on loan at Besiktas last season.
This Toffees side has the makings of a good group, especially if Amadou Onana can build on the all-action cameo he made on debut at Villa Park.
But it is being let down by a bluntness up front in the early weeks of the season, so a move needs to be made soon, and the unwanted Chelsea man could provide a cheap solution.
