Alan Myers: Chelsea have not submitted any official bid for Everton player Anthony Gordon

Chelsea have not made any formal offer for Everton midfielder Anthony Gordon, as per Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist wrote on Twitter on 15 August that the Toffees will not welcome any offer for Gordon if they come at all, from Chelsea or any other club.

According to a report from BBC Sport (August 14), Everton have turned down a £40m offer from Chelsea for the England Under-21 forward.

Myers wrote on Twitter: “My understanding is that there has not been an official bid for Gordon (from Chelsea) and the club would not welcome any if or when they come.”

Interesting

It has been reported extensively that Chelsea have made an offer for Gordon, but Myers is very well connected with the club as well.

This is an interesting scenario. Having already lost Richarlison, Everton won’t be willing to lose another key player.

Gordon is a special talent and Everton must do everything to keep him at the club.

However, there is another perspective. He only established himself as a first-team regular last season. He is only 21, and the amount being offered for him is really massive.

For an inexperienced player, that’s a lot of money, which can be reinvested into the squad.

Everton, as per 90Min, are interested in a host of Chelsea players including Michy Batshuayi, Billy Gilmour, Conor Gallagher, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ross Barkley, and Frank Lampard is willing to swap deal ideas.

The Toffees need players in several areas, and it remains to be seen if they can resist temptations from the likes of Chelsea or Newcastle if they come up with a better offer.
