Everton would have to fork out £20m for Bristol City ace Antoine Semenyo

Bristol City are now set to demand £20million to allow Antoine Semenyo to leave this summer with Everton keen, according to The Guardian.

The 22-year-old has not yet made his first appearance of the season due to injury but he is nearing fitness again and as a result, Premier League teams are increasing their interest.

Everton have already enquired about the Ghanian international while Crystal Palace are also monitoring the situation and Bournemouth had a £10million bid rejected earlier in the window.

But the Robins may not be satisfied with just the £20million as they could ask for add-ons as well as a big up-front fee for their enigmatic attacking talent from their academy.

He only scored six goals in all competitions last season but Bristol City did finish in the bottom half of the Championship and he was among their better performers over the course of the campaign.

Patience

Now is the time for Everton to take a step back and re-evaluate their stance because Semenyo’s contract is ending at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season.

£20million, plus potential add-ons, is a lot to pay for a player with no Premier League or even top-flight experience when he will be available for free in 12 months’ time.

That kind of creative winger is also not what Frank Lampard is in need of right now because he is playing one of them at Goodson Park right now as a striker thanks to the lack of focal point.

Semenyo is certainly a talented individual and he could cut it in the Premier League if given the chance but the cons of the deal far outweigh the pros from an Everton point of view.

So they should be backing down in this race for now and look elsewhere before perhaps returning in January if he hasn’t got a big move before then.
