Everton are still locked in agent talks with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye over a move to Goodison Park, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist shared that an agreement was in place and ready 10 days ago now, but then complications started to arise to get everything completed.

Paris Saint-Germain are said to be tough in negotiations, although a deal could finally be done and finished before the end of the week for Frank Lampard.

Speaking on Que Golazo over on YouTube, Romano shared the latest on Gueye to Goodison Park after everything had started to go quiet at both ends.

“The deal is still on with Gueye and Everton,” he said.

“They are discussing with his agents, they had an agreement ready, it was 10 days ago, then they had some problems to complete everything with Paris Saint-Germain.

“Paris Saint-Germain are really tough with their negotiations this summer. The negotiation is still ongoing and I’d say this week Everton will try to complete.”

This Week.

Finally, we could be welcoming Gueye back to Goodison Park.

This reunion has been long in the making and the Senegal international will surely be ready to get going in the Premier League once again after his time in France.

Despite not playing loads, the midfielder raked in lots of silverware and will now be set for a new challenge of dragging the Toffees out of this mess.

Amadou Onana shined brightly on his debut compared to others in midfield, and with Gueye alongside him in the defensive role, he could really push on into the final third.

That leaves the likes of Tom Davies, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure in reserve, with Alex Iwobi also potentially set for a new role despite playing brilliantly in that midfield two.

Time will tell but that midfield area is now looking more stacked than ever, and we could even see some Everton departures now being the window slams shut in two.
