Frank Lampard makes contact with Neal Maupay as he looks to seal major new transfer

Frank Lampard has personally made contact with Brighton striker Neal Maupay as he looks to seal his next Everton signing, according to The Athletic.

It is reported that Nottingham Forest have already agreed a fee, but the Toffees and Fulham have made their moves to hijack the transfer with interest at different stages.

Wherever Maupay ends up, Brighton are said to make a small profit on the £14million they paid Brentford for the Frenchman over three years ago.

Writing in his latest snippet for The Athletic, Andy Naylor shared what is currently happening as Maupay gets stuck in between a tug-of-war this month.

“Nottingham Forest, Everton and Fulham are in a three-way fight for Neal Maupay,” he wrote

“Maupay is understood to have held talks with Everton manager Lampard. Forest were frontrunners at the weekend but Everton and Fulham entered the fray. Fulham want an alternative to Aleksander Mitrovic.”

Get it done.

This would be the perfect signing.

We have lacked the personality of Richarlison in our opening two Premier League games, and Maupay has that in abundance to rattle the opposition with his energy.

The French striker would be the perfect partner for Dominic Calvert-Lewin too, with his pace and nimbleness potentially making him a huge threat at Goodison Park.

Our number nine is still out for a number of weeks, but he would be licking his lips at the thought of that partnership if Lampard can manage to get a deal over the line.

We have seen the pull of our manager work already numerous times, with Amadou Onana stating his excitement to learn under one of the best midfielders football has ever seen.

Can he do the same with Maupay? Everyone at Everton is certainly hoping so in the coming days and weeks, all eyes are now on Goodison Park.
