Ally McCoist wants Rangers to sign Dele Alli from Everton amid links to Besiktas
Ally McCoist says Dele Alli’s career has been a “sad story” as the Everton ace closes in on a transfer to Besiktas just seven months after joining.
Dele moved to Goodison Park in January on an initial free transfer and has made just 13 appearances, with one start, since the deal and now is closing in on a loan-to-buy move to Turkish giants Besiktas according to reports.
But McCoist, who was speaking live on talkSPORT breakfast show [August 17, 6:23] that he was “really sad” about the news and suggested that he hoped Rangers would make a move for the 26-year-old.

“They’d love him,” he said. “Correct [he’d find himself again].
“Would I take him at Rangers? All day man. All day. Yeah. I do, I really do [think he’d do a good job]. I’d take him all day man.
“He’s completely and utterly lost his way. It’s not easy, don’t think for a minute it’s easy. You look at the players that have come to Rangers beforehand, I’m not saying they’ve struggled but they’ve not been as big a success as people would have thought. And Celtic.
“It’s a difficult place to play. But if you do play there, it’s a fantastic place to play.
“I’m really sad that Dele Alli is going to the Turkish league. He just looks lost. He needs to go and not so much feel loved, but feel comfortable and go and enjoy himself.
“It’s a sad story, it really is.”

Different
There was plenty of excitement for Dele to join the Toffees in January because it was believed that a fresh environment was exactly what he needed to get going again.
But with just one start and no goals to his name so far during his spell at Everton, it’s probably time to cut ties with Frank Lampard needing players he can rely on ahead of what looks set to be another tough campaign.
Everton so far haven’t spent a penny on Dele other than his wages, with the deal meaning they don’t pay their first £10m instalment until he has made 20 appearances and this is a way for them to skip that and make some profit on him instead.
He’s not the same player he once was, who was fearless against top opposition and had an x-factor about his game that not many could match. Now though he hides and is nowhere near as fearsome as he once was.
A change of environment is necessary, but maybe a spell of no expectations could help him too. One thing is true though, it’s certainly sad.
