Blackburn Rovers reject £10m bid from Nice for Everton target Ben Brereton Diaz

Blackburn Rovers have rejected a £10million bid from Nice for Everton target Ben Brereton Diaz according to Footmercato journalist Santi Aouna.

The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday 16 August that Everton are ready to rival the Ligue 1 side for the Chile international.

It’s understood that Blackburn are looking for more than £10million and that Premier League side Bournemouth are also interested.

Perfect addition

Brereton-Diaz is exactly the type of player the Toffees should be targeting this summer, after his electric 2021/22 campaign.

The Chile international has already managed two goals and one assist in three Championship appearances in the 2022/23 campaign.

His 22 goals last season should be more than enough to entice Frank Lampard and the Everton board into firming up their interest in the 23-year-old forward.

Furthermore, his current deal is entering its final year which could open the door for a cut-price move for the attacker.

In a summer of transition for Everton, a younger player such as Brereton Diaz is exactly the type of player that the Toffees need to be looking to bring to Goodison Park.

There is every chance that he would develop and turn into an asset for the club moving forward.

Considering the financial situation at Everton and the lack of forwards at Lampard’s disposal, this is surely a move that the Toffees have to push for.

The club hierarchy surely have to make a concrete move for a striker in the coming days after back-to-back defeats to kick off the Premier League season.

If Everton aren’t careful, they will soon be playing catch-up.
