Dele Alli Goodison Park exit could open door for fifth summer arrival

Dele Alli looks likely to be leaving Everton just months after his January arrival from Tottenham – and that could open the door for Idrissa Gana Gueye to return to the club.

The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano reported (via Twitter, 16 August) that Besiktas are pushing to sign Alli, with the former Tottenham man in search of more game time.

Everton have been looking to bring Gana Gueye back to Goodison Park for a number of weeks.

Former BBC journalist Fraser Fletcher has reported (via Twitter, 16 August) that the Toffees are hopeful to complete the second part of his medical within the week.

The departure of Alli should free up some funds for Frank Lampard to now play with and it would not be a surprise to see Everton complete a move for Gueye in the coming days.

Furthermore, Alli leaving Goodison Park could well see Lampard finally add to his attacking ranks with a number of strikers linked to Everton over recent weeks.

The Daily Mail reported (15 August) that Antoine Semenyo is a target for Lampard and the additional money saved from Alli’s exit could see the Toffees up their interest in the Bristol City man.

Alli leaving Goodison Park looks like the best move for all concerned after his miserable spell on Merseyside.

He is a player that has seen his career completely nosedive in recent years and a move abroad away from the pressures of the Premier League looks like the most sensible decision.

It is now imperative that the Toffees utilise the money saved or incoming fees to improve their attacking options after two defeats to start their Premier League campaign.
