Dele Alli set for Everton exit after former teammates sell him on Besiktas move

Dele Alli is set to join Besiktas on a loan-to-buy deal after the Everton man’s former Tottenham teammates convinced him to go, according to Sabah.

The Turkish outlet report that a contract that would see him join for three years after a season on loan if he completes a permanent transfer is ready, which would see him earn €2.25million a season.

Ex Spurs players Gedson Fernandes and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou are now at the Super Lig giants and have reportedly given him positive feedback on the club and the fans, so he is now up for the move.

While the Toffees have apparently been ready to cut the chord on their project with the former England international, there was some feeling that he was less interested, but it appears that has now changed.

Dele has only played 13 times since his January move, and as such has not yet cost the club a fee, so if this move is completed it looks like he never will.

Cut short

Perhaps the opportunity to potentially receive a fee for a player that has so far effectively been a free transfer made this a move that the club couldn’t turn down, whatever their plans had been otherwise.

The midfielder wasn’t expected to produce fireworks immediately, but develop gradually under the guidance of Frank Lampard.

This season was expected to be where he started to come into his own but the outlook has changed after just two substitute outings.

From the player’s point of view perhaps the lack of scrutiny from the British media will do him good while he is in Turkey, but the stop-start nature of the last year won’t help in terms of settling anywhere.

It is clearly a difficult situation all round, and with Everton not the most stable of clubs themselves currently it might just have been a matter of the right move at the wrong time.

Either way it seems that a revival at Goodison Park is no longer on the cards, and Lampard will be another attacking option shorter without arrivals in that area very soon.
