Everton accept Besiktas bid for Dele Alli as £5.9m loan-to-buy deal agreed

Everton have accepted a loan bid by Besiktas for midfielder Dele Alli, according to Turkish news outlet Fotomac.

Ortacizgi journalist Murat Ozen added on Wednesday (17 August) that Alli, 26, is on his way to Istanbul on a loan-to-buy basis with a £5.9million option-to-buy fee agreed.

In another tweet, Ozen congratulated Besiktas’ president Ahmet Nur Cebi for the deal that sees the former Tottenham midfielder join the Turkish club just months after joining Everton in January.

Bye bye

Frank Lampard made a big mistake signing Alli in January.

Tottenham made an even bigger mistake by agreeing to let him leave on a free transfer.

Spurs will be due some cash if Alli hits a certain number of appearances for Everton but based on how badly he’s played and this move to Besiktas being on the horizon, we doubt the London club will see a penny.

Alli’s wages won’t have been cheap though so Everton probably have wasted a lot of money in that area but this is the latest episode in what has been a desperately sad decline for Alli.

The ex-MK Dons midfielder was one of the best in England for a good amount of time at Tottenham.

However, in the last few years, he’s gotten worse and worse to the point he’s not even been able to get a game for an Everton side threatened with relegation.

Now he’s on his way to Besiktas in Turkey.

Everton

He’s a far cry from playing in the Champions League final with Spurs.

For England’s sake, we hope he does well there and ends up getting a big move back to a major league and then working his way back into the Three Lions squad because we all know that on his day, Alli is incredible.

But his day is very long gone now, unfortunately.
