Everton ‘ahead’ of Newcastle United in race to sign Bamba Dieng – Dean Jones
Everton have seemingly moved into the lead of the race to sign Marseille striker Bamba Dieng, according to Dean Jones via Give Me Sport.
Fellow Premier League outfit Fulham are also ahead of the Magpies right now as the 22-year-old edges closer to an exit from the Velodrome this summer.
Former Senegal international El Hadji Diouf had high praise for Dieng in September, saying: “He is an attacker, a Didier Drogba. All he knows how to do is score goals,” as quoted by RMC Sport.

Dieng is one they (Newcastle) really like as well,” Jones said on his current transfer situation.
“I think after looking further into it, they’ve discovered that Fulham and Everton are actually further ahead than they are in terms of scoping out what the deal is and whether they can get him to the Premier League.
“And I think there’ll be other clubs keeping an eye on the situation.”
Fits the bill
It was blatantly obvious to everyone that watched Everton lose 2-1 away at Aston Villa that a focal point was severely lacking until Salomon Rondon came on.

Anthony Gordon is a great player but he is not someone who can play up front and Dieng is the kind of talent that the Toffees should be going all out to sign with Dominic Calvert-Lewin injured.
Didier Drogba was one of the greatest strikers to ever grace the Premier League and if the Senegalese man is even half as good as the Ivorian was then he will be well worth whatever price Marseille ask for.
He can even play out wide, similarly to Richarlison last season, so he could even form a dangerous front three with Calvert-Lewin and Gordon if they were all fit at the same time.
But when Rondon is your only choice up top, something has to be done and in Dieng, Everton could have the dream scenario falling into their lap.
