Everton need to sign new goalkeeper as Manchester United eye Asmir Begovic
Manchester United have set their sights on signing Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic this summer, according to The Telegraph.
The newspaper reported on Thursday morning (18 August) that United are searching for a new second-choice goalkeeper and Begovic, 35, is seen as a “perfect” signing due to his experience and the fact he’s classed as a homegrown player.
However, it is understood that Man United would need Everton to sign a new goalkeeper to replace Begovic before the Bosnia and Herzegovina international is allowed to move on before the transfer window closes in two weeks’ time.

Unexpected
Well, we didn’t expect to read that today.
Man United’s transfer window has descended into complete and utter chaos and if they want to pay a decent transfer fee for Begovic then they’re more than welcome to.
It would be good for the Toffees to go out there and sign a young goalkeeper who can apply some pressure on Jordan Pickford for his starting spot.
Of course, that won’t be cheap and it might not be something on Everton’s mind considering the Financial Fair Play restrictions that are currently in place.
However, Begovic hasn’t been great for Everton and if Man United are willing to pay for the former Stoke and Chelsea goalkeeper then we should cash in.

Signing a replacement second-choice goalkeeper shouldn’t be too difficult but that needs to be done before Begovic is sold.
Otherwise we’ll be seriously hindering the quality of the squad and would be open to being taken advantage of if Pickford was to get injured or suspended.
Everton’s transfer business in recent years has been pretty terrible but at least Man United are making a charge for the crown of being the worst club in the market.
