Door open for Everton to sign Serhou Guirassy as he trains separately

Everton have got a fantastic opportunity to sign Rennes forward Serhou Guirassy in the summer transfer window, as the player reportedly heading for the exit.

According to a report from L’Equipe (19 August), the Franco-Guinean striker is “awaiting” his departure, and he is training alone at the moment.

The Toffees have been heavily linked with a move for the 26-year-old striker, with RTL France journalist, Fabrice Hawkins sharing on Twitter on 10 August that the Toffees have made an opening loan bid with an option to sign the striker permanently.

The striker, who was once a key part of Rennes’ project, has suddenly dropped out of favour after the French club signed Arnaud Kalimuendo from Paris Saint-Germain.

He is now not in the plans of Bruno Genesio, and the player is likely to head for the exit. This is Everton’s best chance to snap him up.

Genesio himself has admitted that the club is looking to find a solution for him, indicating that a move away from Rennes is highly on the cards.

Last season he managed 37 appearances in league games for Rennes, but mostly he featured from the bench.

He is capable of playing on the wings and would add versatility to Frank Lampard’s side. Given his situation, he could be available at a bargain price.

Everton are desperately looking to sign a striker this summer, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin currently out injured.

The Merseyside club have been linked with a host of strikers including Ben Brereton Diaz, Che Adams, Armando Broja et al, but the door is now open for the Premier League outfit to secure a deal for Guirassy.

He could be a very effective signing for the Toffees, although Lampard has clearly mentioned on 19 August that he would only be interested in signing players with real quality.
