Everton can surge up Premier League table if they make double Napoli transfer

Everton may have started the 2022-23 Premier League season with back-to-back defeats but they are not far away from where they want to be.

Frank Lampard’s side have managed to keep themselves in with a shout of a point in both games, losing by just one solitary goal at home to Chelsea and away at Aston Villa so it seems only a matter of time before their performance is rewarded.

It may take one or two new additions to carry the Toffees over the line and they could go and get a pair of game-changers from Serie A before the transfer window slams shut on 1 September.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Everton are rivalling Manchester United for the signing of Napoli duo Hirving Lozano and Eljif Elmas as Luciano Spalletti looks to add Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele to his squad.

Gli Azzurri though are not keen to let either player go if they can help it as they are both likely to play a major part in their season but Di Marzio does say that a decent offer may be enough for them to accept.

Everton may have to fork out more money than they had intended to sign both the Mexican and the North Macedonian but they are on another level to the majority of players at Goodison Park already.

Lampard will want his side to be challenging in the top half of the table this season despite losing last season’s top scorer, Richarlison, to Spurs earlier in the window and this double deal would do the trick.

In a strange way, they might also be a more favourable place to play than Old Trafford with the Red Devils in turmoil both on and off the pitch so they could yet end up with a free swing at the transfer.

There are only a couple of jigsaw pieces left to fit in for Everton but they will have to spend big to get them if they are currently situated in Naples.
