Everton likely to complete one loan and one permanent signing as journalist shares Friday update
Everton want to sign at least two new forwards to pad out their squad before the summer transfer window closes, according to freelance journalist Fraser Fletcher.
The former BBC Scotland reporter claimed via his personal Twitter account on Friday (19 August) that the Blues want to add support for the currently-injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
It is understood that Frank Lampard is expected to seal one loan signing and one permanent addition to bolster his attack.
Fletcher said: “The club is still pursuing forward options fervently.
As I said before they want two minimum in the door, today I’m told its likely to be one loan and one permanent to help Calvert Lewin with forward duties.”
Clock is ticking
If Everton really want to add several new players to their squad before the summer transfer window closes, they’ll have to speed up.
Kevin Thelwell and Lampard now have less than two weeks to wrap up their transfer business.
In January, the club got good experience of completing quick deals just before the deadline as Lampard was hired and then Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli were both signed.

Of course, those signings failed badly, which should suggest as a warning to the club that rushing through new signings can be very dangerous.
But at least the club’s fax machine is well-greased and the paperwork shouldn’t be an issue if any late arrivals are welcomed to Goodison Park.
Everton cannot ignore their striker issues though.
Even if Calvert-Lewin is fit, can anyone remember the last time he put together two decent performances?
He’s been terrible for a while and we cannot really rely on him when he is able to play.
Salomon Rondon isn’t anywhere near good enough either so we have to get two in and maybe get rid of Rondon.
