Idrissa Gueye moves away from Everton deal as negotiations stopped with PSG

Everton have stopped negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of Idrissa Gueye after failing to find an agreement, according to L’Equipe.

The Toffees have been looking to seal a deal for the Senegal international for several weeks, with many reports that a medical had been done and that he was on Merseyside at one point too.

But despite fresh reports earlier this week that an agreement had finally been found and the deal was set to progress, L’Equipe are reporting that the two clubs still have distance between them and the Blues have now stopped talks.

With PSG refusing to compromise on their demands, Everton have decided to stop negotiations entirely despite already agreeing a contract with the 32-year-old who spent four seasons at Goodison Park in the past.

A deal is still on the table but will require PSG dropping their demands, with the French champions believing this is a tactic from Everton to apply pressure to the situation.

Crazy

This is the most needless and ridiculous transfer saga of the lot, for a number of reasons.

Everton want Gueye, Gueye wants Everton and PSG do not want Gueye, yet they’re refusing to let him leave and getting him off their books which is what they want anyway.

Everton

Frank Lampard is clearly keen to bring him into the club to bolster the midfield options and no matter what the fee is, it won’t be big considering he is into the final 12 months of his contract in France.

It sounds like Everton could be potentially looking to stay cheap and pay a minimal amount, which is their prerogative, but they face not getting the man the manager wants to make the team better.

This is a squad that absolutely needs strengthening this summer and with less than two weeks to go in the window, the board need to just get it done and get him into the squad for the boss to work his magic.
