Ian Wright gushes over Demarai Gray in Everton draw v Nottingham Forest

Ian Wright was thrilled by Demarai Gray’s equaliser that saw Everton secure a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday.

The game appeared to be an even contest and when Forest took the lead, the Toffees went all guns blazing and got their reward a few minutes later.

In the 88th minute, Jordan Pickford’s long-ranged pass found the feet of Gray who made up some ground and controlled the ball perfectly to put it past Dean Henderson in the goal.

Speaking on Premier League Productions’ Matchday Live Extra, Wright said, “The first touch was absolutely world class. He made a great run too and a good finish.”

Phenomenal

Everything about that goal was special and that bailed Everton out massively as they were destined for another humiliating defeat.

Losing to a newly-promoted side at home would do little to build confidence in a fanbase that’s already not feeling too great about how the window has panned out.

The lack of a striker is something that’s still costing Everton the game and they cannot keep relying on Salomon Rondon.

Frank Lampard also needs to be questioned with his decision making as he brought on Dwight McNeil only to take off Rondon – who can be the target man with the Englishman putting crosses into the box.

There just seems to be no planning here and the club were just bailed out by Pickford and Gray’s brilliance.

Anthony Gordon too, had an underwhelming game and was accused of trying too hard when some of his Hollywood moments failed to come off.
