Everton schedule fresh transfer talks with PSG for Idrissa Gueye

Everton have reportedly scheduled fresh transfer talks at the start of this week with Paris St Germain for midfielder Idrissa Gueye.

According to RTL Foot journalist Abdellah Boulma, the two clubs will meet to discuss the move for the 32-year-old before the window shuts.

He claimed earlier that fresh talks had been envisaged and the deal has not yet broken down with another round of conversations set to take place in the coming days.

Via Twitter, Boulma wrote, “A new appointment is scheduled at the beginning of the week for Idrissa Gueye #Everton.”

Getting taxing

It’s surprising to see a move for a 32-year-old player taking so long as PSG do not want him anymore while the Toffees seem keen on re-signing him.

Any delays are probably from the player’s side who could be looking at alternatives as there were claims a few days ago that his heart was not fully into the move.

On August 9 it was understood that the Senegal international had doubts about returning to Merseyside and that does not seem to have changed.

If he wanted it wholeheartedly, this move would’ve been completed long ago.

Everton, on their part, must also keep looking at other options and not sign a player who sees them as a last resort if better things do not happen.

He will surely not be happy and there’s no point signing a player who’s in the final years of his career as he arrives with no resale value and purely being signed because he’s liked by the hierarchy during his time there.
