Everton considering late loan move for Armando Broja as Anthony Gordon edges closer to exit
Everton are considering a late loan move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja as they edge closer to sanctioning the sale of Anthony Gordon, according to Ben Jacobs.
Broja has been a target for the Toffees all summer as they look to bolster their squad, but it was initially felt that a permanent deal would be on the cards.
But as the two clubs near a £60m agreement for Gordon, Frank Lampard wants Everton to move for Broja on a loan with Chelsea still not wanting to sell the Albanian, while Che Adams is also a target in the final days of the window.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Jacobs said; “Frank Lampard is considering a late loan move for Armando Broja.
“Chelsea still reluctant to sanction any permanent sale. Che Adams on Everton’s radar. Loan not possible and he’s value at £25m. Scored twice off the bench against Leicester. No guarantee Southampton will sell.”
Do it
Whether it’s a loan or a permanent move, Everton desperately need quality additions in attack before the deadline next week and Broja is exactly that.
The fact that Chelsea are so interested in Gordon means we should use those talks to negotiate bringing in Broja, someone Lampard has been very keen on and pushing the club to get a deal done for.
A permanent deal would obviously have been ideal, however at this stage if a loan is all that will be sanctioned it is better than nothing and should be done.
As for Adams, he is another good player but the £25m asking price is certainly a sticking point and his goal record isn’t the most impressive despite having more regular first-team football and wouldn’t be as good a signing as Broja.
If Gordon is to leave, the club must ensure that a replacement or two is lined up and ready to come in immediately to counteract the loss and give fans something to be excited about rather than dwelling on losing another top talent.
