Everton must sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney

Everton are one of the teams interested in signing Brentford’s star striker Ivan Toney this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Toffees are in the market to sign a striker to bolster the attacking unit for the 2022-23 campaign, especially after the departure of Richarlison who joined Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the campaign.

As per the latest report, the Merseyside club are competing with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United to sign the former Newcastle United striker in the ongoing transfer window.

Everton must’ve arrived in this transfer window knowing fully well that they must sing at least one striker because there were question marks regarding the future of both Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Even though only one of the above-mentioned strikers has left the club but an injury to other means that the Toffees are seriously short of options in the final third.

Therefore, it is becoming a case of now or never for manager Frank Lampard who must do all he can to ensure the signing of someone like Toney, who would’ve been an ideal fit for the club.

The Northampton born has been exceptional ever since making his debut in the Premier League last season where he has not only scored goals but has been intimidating for the opposition’s defensive lines as well.

The 26-year-old has been a Brentford player since the summer of 2020 when he moved from Peterborough in a deal worth £5.04 million.

Since then, Toney has represented the Bees in 92 matches across all competitions where he has managed to score 49 times and provided 16 assists in the process [Transfermarkt].

The Toffees must now go all out.
