Everton to table formal bid for Manchester United ace James Garner within days – Sky Sports

Everton are set to table a “formal bid” in an effort to sign midfielder James Garner from Manchester United, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster reported via their live transfer blog on Wednesday (24 August, 05:33pm) that the Toffees have “expressed an interest” in signing the 21-year-old ace.

It is understood that the Merseyside club will table an offer for the England Under-21 international “in the coming days” as Frank Lampard looks to bolster his midfield options at Goodison Park.

Get it done

Garner would be a very good signing for Everton.

He seems to be out of the picture at Manchester United having been an unused substitute in the first two games of the Premier League season before being completely dropped by Erik ten Hag for the win over Liverpool on Monday (22 August).

Garner spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, doing incredibly well as they won promotion to the Premier League.

In 49 appearances across all competitions for the East Midlands club last season, Garner scored four goals and supplied 10 assists.

He’s a great set-piece taker.

Trevor Sinclair told talkSPORT on 8 February that Garner’s delivery is “absolutely phenomenal” and is similar to David Beckham’s.

The Sunday People reported via their print edition on 21 August (page 57) that Garner is valued at £15million, which isn’t a lot of money for a young, up-and-coming English midfielder who’s plied his trade at Man United and proven himself in the Championship.

He’s also a local lad having been born on Merseyside in Birkenhead.

We’ll be thrilled with this signing so let’s hope Frank Lampard and Kevin Thelwell can agree terms soon.
