Newcastle will allow Miguel Almiron to leave on permanent deal as Everton show interest

Everton are showing interest in Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron, but the Magpies will only sanction a permanent exit for the 28-year-old according to The Guardian’s Ed Aarons.

It had been revealed by journalist Roberto Rojas (via his personal Twitter account, 24 May) that Everton were interested in the Paraguayan international.

It appears that interest hasn’t waned with Aarons revealing (via his personal Twitter account, 23 August) that the Toffees are still targetting Almiron.

It’s understood that he will only be allowed to leave on a permanent deal.

Not the answer

Almiron has started the season in good form but he is certainly not the answer for Frank Lampard to pursue at present.

At 28, Almiron is in the prime of his career and his performance is only likely to decrease from now as he edges nearer to 30.

Furthermore, a permanent deal would take up vital space on Lampard’s wage structure and could ultimately make it harder for the Everton boss to bring other targets to Goodison Park.

everton

He’s a player who came to England with a lot of expectation but has never quite hit the heights expected of him in the Premier League.

Almiron is a hard worker and will put his body on the line for the team, but that isn’t what Everton need at the moment.

A clinical striker is a must for Lampard, and unfortunately, Almiron is not the answer to that particular puzzle.

This is a move that the Toffees should be steering well clear of.
