Simon Jordon: Everton must cash in on Anthony Gordon quick
Simon Jordon believes that Everton must cash in on Anthony Gordon as long as the transfer fee is invested back into Frank Lampard’s squad as the window nears its close.
It has been revealed by Sky Sports on Tuesday 22 August, that Chelsea are willing to pay £60million on the Everton attacker.
Jordan has suggested that is an extortionate amount for a player of Gordon’s quality and that the club have to cash in on the 21-year-old quickly.
Talking on talkSPORT on Tuesday 22 August, Jordan said: “Sell him, sell him and cash in on him.
“Brighton took £62million for Marc Cucurella and if Chelsea are stupid enough, let them pay for him.
“Most Evertonians will look at it with a degree of disappointment and realise it’s good business but we want it spent back into the team.
“This player is not a £60million footballer but if they’re going to get the money on the nail without the drip feeding of cash which they tend to do as a matter of course then they’ve got some power [to sign players].
“But what is crucial is that they go out there and do that now because they’ve got ten days to finish this transfer window off.
“£60million for Anthony Gordon!
“Send him in a cab before someone wakes up and smells the coffee.”
Time to go
Gordon is a real talent but ultimately, £60million will be far too much for Everton to turn down at the moment with a need for a striker the real priority.
Considering that Erling Haaland cost Manchester City £51million, the amount Chelsea are willing to pay for Gordon is remarkable.
Jordan is spot on in his assessment of getting a deal done quickly for the Toffees, with only a matter of days left in the transfer window for Lampard to bring players to Goodison Park.

If Chelsea do sign Gordon and provide an upfront fee of £60million, it will put the Everton boss in a strong position to add some quality to his squad.
What is crucial is that Everton don’t let this saga run until deadline day.
The club could be left with very little time to find a replacement and add more quality to their ranks.
Decision-makers at Goodison Park need to decide within the next 24 hours whether Gordon will remain at the club this summer or not.
Evertonians are in for an interesting end to what has been a hectic transfer window.
