Southampton strengthen resolve to keep Everton target Che Adams amid recent form

Southampton have reportedly strengthened their resolve to retain the services of Everton target Che Adams this summer.

According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, the Toffees still want to sign the Scotland international but the Saints’ stance has not changed yet.

The 26-year-old, who has played 98 Premier League games, has started the season strongly by scoring two goals in as many appearances for the South coast team.

Via Twitter, Crook wrote, “No change on #SaintsFC stance re #EFC target Che Adams. They want to keep him. Recent run of form surely has only strengthened that resolve.”

Keep trying

A move to Everton certainly is a step up for Adams and with the options looking limited, the Goodison Park hierarchy must stay in the pursuit to sign him.

The player could fancy a move as Southampton appear to be a sinking ship this season and he would be a regular on Merseyside – something which is not the case at St Mary’s.

The cost factor is certainly something to consider but Everton may be able to afford it if they sell Anthony Gordon to Chelsea.

While the transfer fee is believed to be £60million, it will be structured in terms of instalments, but the Toffees will be getting a huge amount upfront.

That amount alone should be enough to sign Adams as well as another wide attacker – two positions that are of utmost priority to Frank Lampard.
