Everton: Dele Alli buy option clause at £8m for Besiktas – Fabrizio Romano

Besiktas have an option to buy Dele Alli out of his loan move away from Everton and Fabrizio Romano has detailed how much that would cost them.

The 26-year-old is in Istanbul and finishing his medical tests before finalising the temporary move to the Vodafone Park Arena after just seven months at Goodison Park.

The Black and Whites have the option to buy him out of his loan agreement if they are impressed by his performances for just £8million which is significantly less than the £40million Everton were due to pay Tottenham if he made 80 appearances on Merseyside.

But as he only made 13 appearances for the Toffees, Everton have had to pay nothing to Spurs for the England international.

“Dele Alli is finishing medical tests as new Besiktas player right now,” Romano said via Twitter. “More: been told buy option clause included in the contract between Everton and Besiktas is worth £8m.”

Waste of space

Alli’s fall from being one of the nation’s darlings to an outcast ridiculed for his every move has been one of the biggest falls from grace in the modern era of the Premier League.

There was very slight excitement when he made the move to Goodison Park on deadline day in the January transfer window but he has been an utter let down ever since.

Frank Lampard knows that he can’t have lacklustre performers in his side after narrowly surviving the drop last season and starting the new campaign slowly and Alli falls into that category.

The writing was on the wall from pre-season as he missed an open goal from mere inches out against Minnesota United in a humiliating 4-0 defeat.

Everton will be hoping he performs well in Turkey and they can get an essentially free £8million next summer and not have to worry about the Englishman ever again.
