Kaveh Solhekol expects Chelsea and Everton developments for Anthony Gordon within hours

Kaveh Solhekol has reported that Chelsea are pressing ahead with high-level talks to sign Everton star Anthony Gordon this week before the deadline.

The Toffees have already rejected bids for their winger, despite him informing the club that he wants to leave and make the move to Stamford Bridge.

Solhekol has shared that Chelsea are prepared to pay up to £60million, with developments expected within hours on Thursday evening [25 August] between the clubs.

Everton

Speaking live on Sky Sports on Thursday [25 August] via their live blog, Solhekol shared the latest news with developments coming up imminently.

“Chelsea are pressing ahead with trying to sign Anthony Gordon, high-level talks are continuing today,” he said.

“They’re prepared to pay up to £60m, and we believe he’s told Everton he wants to leave.

“We’re told there will be developments in the next few hours.”

Happening?

Within hours, we could get the news that Gordon is moving on.

That would be the worst-case scenario with the club now having less than one week to complete their business and bring in more than one attacker.

Frank Lampard and Kevin Thelwell still haven’t brought in that big-name replacement for Richarlison yet, so losing another big name would be horrible.

£60million if paid in one upfront fee would be huge for an unproven player, despite the fact he has been class for us since he broke onto the scene in recent seasons.

Can Farhad Moshiri release all of those funds to be used on incoming new signings though? That has to be used in our decision on whether to keep or cut ties with Gordon.

All eyes are now on Goodison Park.

Everton are under pressure to make the right decision from numerous different corners, but it is critical that we get this one right, especially after our poor start to the Premier League season again.
