PSG chief Antero Henrique open to Idrissa Gueye Everton sale but wants transfer fee
PSG chief Antero Henrique is reportedly open to Idrissa Gueye’s sale to Everton but wants a transfer fee from them.
According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, the PSG director of football is open to letting him leave on a free if he’s not heading to Goodison Park.
It’s understood that Sporting CP and FC Porto are both interested and Henrique will not be looking to demand any money from them.
Via Twitter, Hawkins wrote, “FC Porto and Sporting Portugal are also interested in Idrissa Gueye. Antero Henrique would be ready to let him go free to these two clubs. For Everton he wants a transfer.”
Baffling
We cannot understand why PSG would not want money from any club that’s willing to sign Gueye this summer.
Even though they are backed by the Qatari government, they still do need funds for the running of the club.
Any income through the door will always be welcomed so it’s baffling to see them have such a weird criterion and bias against Everton.
If anything, they should be sympathetic to the Toffees’ plight, given their financial predicament and the fact that they’re taking one of the fringe players off their wage bill.
Our advice to the Everton board will be to walk away from this deal as there are way too many complications in it and they’re better off signing younger players.
Our understanding is that the player himself does not seem too keen on returning to Goodison Park so it does seem like a pointless pursuit as of this time.
