Everton may consider Anthony Barry approach amid Sunderland interest
Everton could consider making Chelsea coach Anthony Barry a part of their staff if the opportunity arises, according to Joe Thomas.
The 36-year-old is currently a front-runner to take the managers role at Championship outfit Sunderland after Alex Neil ditched the Black Cats to join Stoke City in the same division following Michael O’Neill’s sacking.
Frank Lampard has tried to keep a strong Chelsea connection with his coaching staff having brought in Joe Edwards from Stamford Bridge already as well as former Blues defender Ashley Cole.
Thomas thinks that Barry’s potentially impending availability could see Everton try to swoop for Barry and bring him into the fold alongside Lampard, Edwards and Cole.
“to see Anthony Barry being linked to the Sunderland job,” he said via his personal Twitter account. “If he is open to leaving Chelsea, would think Lampard may be interested in trying to add him to the Everton backroom team again.”
Comfort
You can hardly blame the Toffees manager for wanting the familiarity of former colleagues around him as much as possible given the struggles ongoing at Goodison Park right now.
They currently sit in the relegation zone of the Premier League with two points from four matches and only Wolves and Leicester remain below them in the table.

Both Brendan Rodgers and Bruno Lage will be expecting their sides to soon find their form but that might not be able to be said about Everton who could yet lose star man Anthony Gordon before the transfer window closes.
They are going to need every bit of help thy can get and if that also means bringing a coach from London to Merseyside then Farhad Moshiri and Kevin Thelwell have to green-light the move.
It is paramount that the manager feels confident in his staff so he can then focus on the players at his disposal and try to turn around what has been a sinking ship for some time.
