Everton set to table bid to sign Cork City goalkeeper David Harrington

Everton are reportedly set to table a formal bid to sign Cork City goalkeeper David Harrington on Monday, 29 August.

According to the Independent, the Toffees are expected to send in the offer at any time as they were expected to table it in the next 24 hours at lunchtime on Sunday.

Everton are looking to fend off interest from elsewhere as they’re looking to sign the 22-year-old right away and loan him back to the League of Ireland First Division side and are already in contact over the finer details of the transfer.

Everton

Makes sense

Harrington is one of the best goalkeepers in the league and is only getting better with time.

He also has international aspirations and that’s precisely why the Toffees are happy to loan him back to the club.

They do not need a first or second choice goalkeeper this season and if they have him at Goodison Park, he would’ve been playing with the Under-23s.

Clearly, playing senior first-team football is going to give him more experience and will help him become a more refined player when he does end up moving to Everton for good.

But it seems to be apparent that many in Goodison Park view the Irish goalkeeper as someone with a high ceiling and that’s why they’re working so hard to sign him as soon as possible.

We will be keeping eyes on him should this move go through and hopefully, he goes on to have a league-winning campaign as his side currently sit on top of the table.

Asmir Begovic is likely to stay despite Manchester United’s interest so there’s no need to sign a number two for this season.
