Everton target Miguel Almiron ‘certain’ to leave Newcastle

Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron is reportedly certain to leave this summer as Everton eye a move for him ahead of the transfer deadline.

According to former Eurosport journalist Dean Jones, the Toffees are still keen on attacking reinforcements and have identified the Paraguay international as an option.

Despite scoring a goal this season and starting all four games for the Toons, an exit appears to be on the cards for the 28-year-old.

Jones told Give Me Sport, “There is some interest here and Almiron looks certain to be leaving Newcastle.

“Everton need options and he’s one that they’ve got on their radar just in case it can happen.”

Better options there

The Toffees do need another attacker this summer, especially if they fail to retain the services of Anthony Gordon.

Every game the Englishman plays seems to be like his last for the club and this is not ideal, given the fact that the window is going to shut soon.

Chelsea do have the money and would be paying a “huge” amount up front for his services – something that would come in handy ahead of the deadline.

However, for them to invest in Almiron would be counter productive as he’s failed to get going in the Premier League and not lived up to his hype.

If Newcastle had better players, they probably wouldn’t start him regularly and it does make sense why they were keen on Gordon too.

Everton now look like they’ve got the money to spend this summer and must make the most of it and not sign players like Almiron especially after they’ve brought in Neal Maupay – who himself has struggled over the last two seasons.
