Everton could seal three new transfers this week, James Garner and Idrissa Gueye could both join

Everton could sign both James Garner and Idrissa Gueye to strengthen their midfield this week, according to David Ornstein.

The Athletic journalist has reported that the Toffees want up to two new midfielders as well as another attacking option through the door before Thursday [01 September].

Gueye is set to arrive from Paris Saint-Germain imminently, with Everton currently waiting on Manchester United to engage over a late deal for Garner.

Writing in his latest column for The Athletic, Ornstein shared the most recent news coming from Goodison Park with less than 72 hours left in the window.

“Everton want a resolution quickly or they will move on to other targets, with two or three incomings — ideally another midfielder and a striker or a wide forward — wanted before Thursday evening,” he wrote.

“James Garner is their top target in addition to Gueye (or as an alternative) but Everton are waiting for Manchester United to engage.”

Wow.

It’s easy to forget the game against Leeds coming up on Tuesday evening with all of this transfer talk emerging from Goodison Park in recent hours.

Bringing in Gueye, Garner and another attacker would be brilliant business and it would tick a lot of boxes after Neal Maupay became the latest through the door.

The money from Richarlison has been spent wisely, and we have seen each third strengthened significantly from the end of last season, with experience and youth brought in.

Now, all we need to do is finish the window with a bang and then move onto the action on the pitch, and start picking up some points in the Premier League.

Frank Lampard can have no excuses should another three faces come in during a late triple transfer blitz, with answers needing to be delivered.

All eyes are on Merseyside, with the business door revolving over the next few days, and they aren’t expected to shut even when we take to the pitch at Elland Road tonight.
