Everton progress in talks as £14m bid to seal deal for Manchester United midfielder James Garner

Everton have reportedly made a breakthrough with talks and a £14million bid will seal the deal for Manchester United midfielder James Garner.

According to the Daily Mail (31 August, page 67), the Red Devils will part ways with the English midfielder for that valuation.

The same publication reported that talks are now progressing with United as they look to complete the deal before the deadline.

Go for it

Garner would be a shrewd acquisition and could be at the club for a long time.

Idrissa Gueye is set to join but he will only be around for a few more years before he’ll be needing replacing.

Garner can form a long-term partnership with Amadou Onana and Alex Iwobi’s good form in midfield means that Frank Lampard can look to play three in midfield as well.

Shifting to a back four is something he hasn’t toyed with this season, but if he feels confident, he can.

The back three is clearly not creating an abundance of chances and something needs to change in order for the Toffees to be more fluid in the final third.

Hopefully, the two clubs can finalise this deal ahead of the 11pm deadline on Thursday and another attacker is also brought in by then.

Ben Brereton Diaz looks to be the priority as of now and an Everton scout was also spotted at a recent Blackburn Rovers game as well.
