Andre Gomes already in France for Lille medical ahead of Everton exit
Everton midfielder Andre Gomes is already in France to undergo a medical with Lille ahead of his exit from the club, according to Marc Mechenoua.
The Portuguese midfielder has been told he can leave the club and left Finch Farm training ground early today to seal a deal away.
It’s now been revealed that the club interested in bringing him in is Ligue 1 club Lille, and Goal reporter Mechenoua says that the player was in Neuilly today with fellow new signing Adam Ounas taking his medical ahead of the move.
“As revealed by L’Equipe, André Gomes could be the surprise at the end of the transfer window at LOSC [Lille],” he said.
“The defensive midfielder was with Adam Ounas at the American hospital in Neuilly for his medical visit.”
Perfect
Gomes was a great signing at the time of his arrival and added lots of quality on the ball and off it too, exciting fans and showing his abilities.
Then he suffered that traumatic leg break and he’s never been the same since, suffering with niggles constantly and losing half a yard of pace.
Now with Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gueye and James Garner all coming into the Everton squad they have moved past the need for having the player as part of the squad and getting his huge wages off the bill will be a huge help.
For the player a fresh environment is no doubt needed to restart his career and Lille provide an excellent platform to do that, with his international teammate Jose Fonte at the club too.
It’s a deal that works for all parties and so long as he passes the medical, this is one that should get done before tonight’s deadline and the player will go with everyone’s best wishes.
