Everton complete signing of Idrissa Gueye from PSG for just £2m

Everton complete the signing of Idrissa Gueye from PSG for just £2million on transfer deadline day despite reports claiming a higher price.

According to Daily Mail journalist Dominic King, the Toffees completed the signing of their former midfielder for just a couple of million.

However, Goodison News carried a story by Alan Myers who claimed that he would cost £8million – £6million more than what they eventually ended up paying for him.

Via Twitter, King wrote, “An update on Idrissa Gueye; the fee Everton have paid for him is in the region of £2million.”

Good negotiations

Everton have often been criticised for spending over the top for players but signing Gueye for this kind of money is a good deal.

Frank Lampard desperately wanted Gueye for his efficiency and energy in the middle of the park and it bodes well that he’s a former player.

He’s rated highly by the fans and also is appreciated by the hierarchy at Goodison Park so this is a move that works for everyone.

The younger players in the side will surely have a lot to learn from his experience and he will bring much-needed authority to the side.

Hopefully, the Toffees continue their deadline day splurge and sign a few more players before the 11pm deadline.

A new striker and possibly wide attacker are still options and if they manage to get both Ben Brereton Diaz and Samuel Chukwueze, it’ll be an exceptional coup.
